I am strongly opposed to how the Yonkers City Council voted 4 to 3 to extend their current term limits from three terms to four terms.
The incumbent 5th District Councilman, Mike Breen, voted in favor of extending the term limits from three to four terms, thus allowing himself to run for an additional term.
Mike Breen's self serving vote

Mike Breen's self serving vote was not in the best interests of the Yonkers Republican Party.
Mike Breen was willing to vote for a proposed Re-districting plan that would have benefitted his district while having no concern on how this plan would have affected a fellow Republican's district.
For the past 12 years Mike Breen has not had the best interests of the 5th District nor the Republican Party as a priority. His lack of visibility and concern for constituent issues has been unacceptable!
It is time for a change!

Yonkers Republican Chairman John Larkin and The Yonkers Republican Party is against term limit vote "If the desire is to overturn term limits it should be done via a referendum on the ballot! As was done in the past it should be up to the people to decide." says Republican Chairman John Larkin On Monday, November 14th, Yonkers Republican Party Chairman John Larkin sent a memo to Yonkers residents that the Yonkers Republican Party is against the legislation introduced in the City Council to extend term limits for the Mayor and City Council. Yonkers Chairman John Larkin said "It has come to our attention that the City will be introducing legislation to change term limits once again at the Tuesday Nov 15, 2022 Rules Committee meeting. In 1994 voters by a referendum on the ballot approved a change to the city charter to implement term limits. Elected officials, mayor and council members, would be limited to 2 four year terms. Then in 2001 an effort to overturn term limits was rejected by the voters at the ballot box. In 2018 rather than go to a referendum, the City Council decided to extend term limits from 2 terms to 3 terms. The reason given at the time was that the City wanted to be consistent with Westchester County which has 3 four-year terms. Now an effort is underway to extend term limits once again to 4 terms. That would be 16 years!" Chairman Larkin continued "The Yonkers Republican Party is against extending the terms of Mayor and City Council. If the desire is to overturn term limits it should be via a referendum on the ballot! As was done in the past it should be up to the people to decide. Maybe the City Council should vote to have a special referendum election to determine whether the people would approve such an extension. The Yonkers Republican Party is against extending term limits." #
The extension of term limits is my main reason for challenging the incumbent Councilman in the 5th District. However, if elected I do have the skills and experience to necessary to be an effective representative. View my video
Let's look at the Yonkers School System differently and make education relevant for the needs of the students and the city at large.
There are several areas of the 5th District that has been plagued with flooding. It is time to bring the State, County and the Federal agencies together to once and for all correct this problem.
